The main thing to remember is to control what you can control. This may seem cliche, but it’s the most important detail. Some athletes allow outside factors and emotions control them (getting high on made shots and getting low on missed shots). I have seen less talented athletes start over more talented athletes because they cannot keep their emotions in check and lose focus in the middle of games. Having a strong focus, motor, and gameplay execution are the three main things every coach looks for in their players. Do these three things well, and you’ll find yourself on the starting lineup sooner than later.
