This is the easiest defense to break, but it is very popular in youth sports because young athletes do not know how to execute the offense correctly on the court. The key to breaking this defense is to find the “zone breakers”. These are the spots on the court where 2 defenders are drawn to 1 player because that person is in both of their zone. The zone breakers in a 2-3 are the short corner to block area and the elbow to elbow area. Focus on getting the ball to these areas, draw the double team, and then pass the ball to the open player. Once the double team comes, your teammates should be cutting to the basket or ready to shoot at the 3 point line.
